Insulation

INSULATION IS EVERYTHING

Why Insulate? Why Air Seal?

The reasons are many, code requirements, comfort, HVAC control, air quality, moisture management and on and on. Insulation materials and air sealing techniques must work together if not it is costing you.

1) Health and Safety (indoor air quality)

2) Durability (structure)

3) Energy Efficiency (saving money on utilities).

Consider an 8-foot, 2 by 4-wall section insulated wall cavity. There is a small defect, a 3-inch gap at the top (no insulation), that defect reduced your R-value by 25%!

Add up all the little defects. How big of a thermal leak, do you have now? Thermal leaks lead to lower overall R-value and more energy usage, higher monthly utility cost and a decrease in comfort.

Is your insulation dry, windblown and installed properly? A quality insulating and air sealing system is the least expensive, long term, low maintenance way to provide durable thermal comfort in a home and to reduce operating costs.

Hybrid systems; they use closed foam for an air barrier and cellulose or fiberglass helping in reducing cost.

Foam Insulation

In today’s economy you deserve any break you can get, and something that is often overlooked and can cost homeowners extra money each month is their home’s insulation. But don’t just think the about the pink stuff up in the attic. Today’s technology has produced an insulating element that can seal air leaks and reach places standard insulation can’t.

Introducing, Solar Foam—an expandable, spray-applied polyurethane foam insulation.  Solar Foam is applied under pressure to fill and seal places standard insulation can’t reach. It’s environmentally safe and adds R value as well.

Air leaks affect your home’s energy efficiency in two ways: 1) the hot air that leaks out forcing your furnace to work overtime; 2) air leaks allow cold air to come into the house. Standard insulation will create a barrier that stops heat loss, but it does nothing to prevent air leaks that can happen anywhere.

Common leaks in the basement include plumbing and gas lines coming into the house along with exiting dryer vents. The basement isn’t the only place for leaks. The ceiling’s light fixtures and fans provide places for warm air to escape.

For older homes, it’s the perfect insulation answer. No need to tear up walls or ceilings. The Solar Foam insulation needs only a small injection hole to allow the insulation into the wall. From there it quickly expands to fill any gap.

Solar Foam provides some healthy benefits along with reducing your energy bills. Solar Foam reduces the risk of mold growth, reduces the amount of dust and pollen in your home, reduces the potential for insect infestation, and provides great sound insulation.

Hybrid Foam Systems

Hybrid systems; are highly effective they use closed foam for an air barrier and cellulose or fiberglass helping in reducing cost. Over all effectiveness is greater than using cellulose or fiberglass alone.
